My Favorite Beauty, Fashion and Home Products of 2020

2020 was a year! A year that we will all never forget. While there was a lot of heaviness, there was also some good moments that I will always hold in my heart. In a normal year, I would be purchasing more stuff and doing way more things, but 2020 was the year of purchasing and doing a whole lot less. It really was the year where small things mattered the most. And, I actually appreciated that a lot.

I did have some favorite products of 2020 that I want to share with you all. Most of these items, I either purchased, were given to me as a gift from a family member or were gifted to me. These products upgraded my quarantine beauty and self-care routine, added some style to my wardrobe and made me feel good in a unsettling time. Read on for some of my favorite beauty, home and fashion products that I enjoyed most in 2020.

MUTHA face oil was one of my favorite skincare products and probably the most used in 2020 by far. This ultra-luxe face oil took the place of my regular moisturizer and it totally pulled through in every season. It absorbs quickly into the skin leaving a nice sheen and is super gentle on my Rosacea-prone skin. It contains all-natural ingredients such as Kalahari melon, sea buckthorn, squalene and tsubaki oil to moisturize and protect.

2020 was the year where I had multiple hand creams in use at all times. Merle Norman's ultra-rich hand cream won me over for its nourishing antioxidant-rich formula that works well on hands as well as cuticles.

Over the years, I have gotten hooked on cream blushes. When I saw makeup artist Gucci Westman apply her Westman Atelier cream blush sticks on her skin, I knew I had to try one. Baby Cheeks Blush Stick in petal is that perfect cream blush loaded with natural oils and grape seed extract. It goes on seamlessly and I love how it gives my cheeks an extra pop. Apply it to your lips for some quick color on the go.

Self-care was super-important in 2020. I purchased the The Peyton Co. Desert Oasis Body Butter in Calm Chill, which nourishes skin with shea butter, coconut, pumpkin seed and lavender. It has this thick whipped texture and it melts into the skin. I actually look forward to applying it every time after my shower.

All that mask wearing has me focused on the eyes. I typically stick with drugstore mascara, but had to try the new Hourglass Unlocked Instant Extensions Mascara as I want something to lift my lashes and give the illusion of extensions. This inky black formula separates, lengthens and adds mega volume to my lashes in just a few coats. It has tiny fibers that latch on to your lashes for that extension look without any clumps.

Last time, I visited my dermatologist Dr. Chang, she told me I needed to use a retinol on my face a few nights a week to help revive my complexion. I left her office with her Retinol Serum containing vitamins C and E and a patented retinoid complex and applied it a few nights a week. It has done wonders on my skin—banishing dullness and leaving it more even and firm.

Home

A few years ago I bought an instant pot and it was so big I returned it right away. I never got another one till now. So far, in the Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus I've made some basic tasty meals such as turkey chili, pulled barbecue chicken and pork in a flash, and can't wait to try other recipes. It's easy to use and clean.

I've had my eye on linen curtains for the master bedroom for a while from The Shade Store, but took a long time choosing the fabric and color. I went with a linen oatmeal hue that frames the sliding doors perfectly and adds texture and warmth to the room.

I keep my phone charged on my nightstand at night and just upgraded with a wireless charger that makes charging up so easy and fast. I love how it's super slim and I can just plop my phone down and let it charge away.

Fashion

Every season, I like to upgrade my denim, but with Covid it was hard to get to a store and try a pair on. I happened to find a great pair— the Mother Tomcat, which have a straight fit, high-waisted, little stretch and are slightly distressed. I love this pair of jeans both dressed up and down.

Getting ready for bed has taken on a whole new meaning with these Eberjey pajamas. They are so soft and keep me cozy, and I love lounging around in them.

Ugg slippers are my absolute favorite! I upgraded my normal winter slippers for these slides, which got me through the warmer months.

Combat boots are all the rage these days and it takes me back to high school or junior high (can't even remember) when I would wear Dr. Martens. I bought these Sam Edelman combat boots in the fall and they have gotten me through days when I want to wear something besides sneakers and not a heel. They come in a few colors, too, and are a good price point.

Did you have a favorite product of 2020? I'd love to hear.
