The Best Drugstore Mascaras

My look never feels complete unless I put on some mascara.  I have fine, straight lashes so a few swipes of mascara instantly gives my lashes a boost, some added color and makes my eyes look more awake. The past year, I have only been wearing drugstore mascaras, and been really happy with the results. There are so many great options out there and new formulas always popping up.  Some are formulas that I have never tried and some have been in my makeup bag for years. Important things I look for in a drugstore mascara: a brush that lengthens and volumizes, a formula that goes on easily and one that never flakes or clumps. The mascaras below follow that criteria with even some extras to boot.

Here are seven of my favorite drugstore mascaras under $10:

1. L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Original Mascara -- I got hooked on this mascara after a celebrity makeup artist told me she uses this mascara on all her clients and it always delivers the best results.   The nylon bristle brush lengthens, thickens and volumizes in one stroke and never flakes or smudges.

2. Maybelline Full 'N Soft Mascara --  I love to wear this mascara during the day, and the full bristle brush has just enough thickness for natural fullness and definition.

3. Maybelline Great Lash -- The first mascara I have ever used. The brush is not as full as other brushes, but it separates, lifts and lengthens lashes easily with zero clumps. Plus, it's a buildable formula and can be layered with other mascaras if needed.

4. No 7 Stay Perfect Long-lasting Volume -- By far one of the easiest wands to maneuver, this formula coats lashes with tiny elastic tubes for added length and thickness. Plus, it washes off easily with soap and water.

5. Maybelline Colossal Big Shot -- A volumizing formula with a full bristle brush that adds instant oomph for long, feathery lashes.

6. MaxFactor Masterpiece Max Mascara --  The multitasking moisturizing formula glides on easily and the plastic wand grabs onto each lash from root to tip with no flakes.

7. Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Angel -- This mascara grew on me over time and the brush took some getting used to.  The plastic wand is similar to a teasing comb, but with longer bristles on one side, which gives separation, length and a slightly winged effect.

Are any of these mascaras your favorite, too? I'd love to hear what drugstore mascara you love these days.
