Party Blouses for New Year’s Eve and Beyond

I’m in the midst of holiday parties and even though Christmas and Hanukkah are next week, I’m already thinking ahead to New Year’s Eve. At the moment, I do not have plans to leave the house, but that could always change.  If I do leave the house or end up having people over, I still like to dress up a bit with a pretty top.  As much as I love a dress this time of year, living in the Northeast often dictates my wardrobe and on freezing cold nights I opt for wearing pants and a statement blouse over a dress. When I wear a blouse that is a little more special — sequins, lace or some shine — it often makes me feel really good and puts me in a mood to celebrate.   Here are some recent favorite sparkly blouse finds and ones that I have recently scooped up and been wearing this party season.

I just bought this ASTR the Label metallic top at Bloomingdales and will say it’s the perfect party blouse for under $100.  It has this sexy vneck in a silvery metallic pewter color that looks great with a pair of dark denim or slim black trousers.   The sleeves are billowy, but not too much, so it looks really stylish and fresh for the season.

You can’t go wrong with a lace top and one in black is classic and timeless. I recently needed a top for holiday parties (one was a company party for the hubs) that was a bit conservative, but also elegant and something I could wear again and again. This lace tie up Zadig & Voltaire fit that criteria and is something that has a bit rockstar vibe, but also chic and fun for date nights to New Years Eve parties. I paired it with an affordable black camisole underneath, but you can also wear a black lacy bra and it will still look chic.

Another lace top that I bought last year is this one by WAYF and it’s also under $100.  It looks great with a straight pair of light denim (I have the blouse in navy), but it also comes in a variety of colors. I bought two sizes in this top and ended up keeping the smaller size because the puff on the sleeves felt more proportional to my body, so just keep that in mind when shopping for it.

On those freezing cold nights, a good sweater is a no-brainer. I recently tried on this turtleneck sweater by A.L.C and it was such a beautiful fabric and fit, however, I am waiting for it to go on sale before I buy it.  It would look great with a pleated black skirt or pair of faux leather pants.

Zara is my go-to store when I need a going out blouse that is on trend and looks way more expensive than it is. I love the jewel tone and high-collar style of this satin one and the price can’t be beat.

A touch of metallic and texture is always nice this time of year and I am loving this sequin and tulle stunner from J.Crew, which is the perfect statement maker for New Year’s Eve and beyond.

I love a great sequin top for parties and have been eyeing this Amanda Uprichard one with a gorgeous neckline and peplum detail. It comes in two colors and I would wear it with a pair of dark or light denim and a pretty heel.

Another sequin statement maker that won’t break the bank is this high collar top from H&M. I saw the top in person the other day and love the light beige color and shine — it has major wow factor!  It’s great for New Year’s Eve and any other party you may have this winter. Pair it with skinny denim or the matching skirt for a full on party look.
