What To Buy Now For The Best Summer Wardrobe

This is my first fashion post in a while. My head just hasn’t been there with fashion the past few weeks and it also felt a little funny to push items when so many people were suffering and experiencing a challenging time. But, shopping is fun, and retailers need our help right now to survive. Plus, it’s summer so we have an excuse to buy new items and refresh our closets.

I’ve been slowly buying a few must-have pieces for summer—some good quality basics to wear everyday and light, breezy styles to wear on hot days. I’m trying to buy pieces that I’ll wear again and again, leaning towards neutral colors to refresh my closet.

Here’s what’s on my radar for summer must-haves:

June has been really warm and I’m eyeing a lot of airy, light pieces made with cotton and linen. I don’t love the maintenance of some linen pieces, but they are nice to wear in the summertime.  A long sleeve linen top to wear as a cover up or with shorts is classy looking and timeless. Eyeing this linen top and it comes in a variety of colors. This dress is a linen blend and has a classic look that could work for a backyard get together or a work meeting. I love a linen romper I purchased last summer (see in the pic above) and this one is super-cute and can be both casual and dressed up. Usually, I lean towards light colored pieces in linen, but I love this black shirt and the utilitarian feel.  You can’t go wrong with a white linen top and I have this in my cart right now, which I’m sure I’ll wear all summer long.  The quality looks great! And this classic calf-length dress in a linen blend with a sexy back would be a great dress for going out, paired with some pretty accessories.

I’ve been living in t-shirts and tanks and this one is slouchy and slightly boxy, but looks a little fancier than a standard style. Plus, I love the color. On the hot days, I’ve been wearing this muscle tank paired with shorts during the daytime. They’re affordable and come in a variety of colors. For a cooler summer night, I like to have an airy cardigan on hand that works over tanks and t-shirts. Loving this sweater that would work well for now and into fall. A good tank is on my must-have list for summer and been eyeing this square neck tank, which would work with both jeans and a cute flowy skirt. Tie-dye is all the rage these days and loving these by Everlane. They look well-made and come in a variety of colors. I just ordered this puff-sleeved dress and I’m hoping it looks good to wear for day and night, paired with strappy sandals. A flowy white skirt like this one  would be a great summer staple, and it’s a great price. And, now that things are starting to open back up, a going out top for summer is always fun.  Loving this eyelet tank, lightweight billowy tank and the tank I bought last summer that I wore everywhere. What are you guys buying for summer 2020?  Would love to hear in the comments below.
