The Best Late Summer Beauty Products

Happy end of August! I'm not moving to fall mode until September 22 because living in the Northeast requires me to soak up the summer season as much as possible. I haven't shared recent beauty favorites here in a while. It's been that kind of summer and I've been focusing on good skincare and less makeup whenever possible. Summer is the time to keep your beauty routine simple and the products I share below all work into the fall season. They're actually great for bringing skin back from summer and keeping that summer glow. I already shared some of these on my IG stories (I hope you are following along @wanderandlash).

Here are some of my late summer favorites:

Adding a little glow is always key this time of year. I love the Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow Face Primer that I apply on top of skincare, under makeup or on its own. It's super-lightweight and blendable, leaving this subtle sheen that just makes everything look a little more put together. The hydrating formula contains peptides, hyaluronic acid, rosehip and camellia oil so it keeps skin plumped and smooth.

I haven't used self tanner on my face in years. I've seen so many bad mishaps on people it makes me nervous to use every day no matter what the label says. So instead, I love a good bronzer. The CHANEL LES Beiges Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream has been on my radar for a while and when I tried it at a Boston department store back in early summer I grabbed it. It's a creamy gel formula with light reflecting pigments so it just makes skin look natural and sun-kissed in such a pretty way—never orange or blotchy. It also dries to this pretty velvety matte finish. The price tag may seem steep, but it is in a large pot that will last a good few months. I went with the universal color.

Mascara is a must no matter the day and season for me as I have straight barely noticeable lashes. JOAH sent me their new LASH UP Rising lash primer and it has been such a lovely addition to my everyday mascara routine. One swipe and it lengthens and thickens my lashes taking them to the next level. It never smudges and conditions with vitamin E, biotin and olive oil. I apply any mascara right over (the Ilia works great on top) or their new LASH UP Rising volumizing mascara.

Exfoliation is key in the summertime. My friend told me I had to try the LimeLife by Alcone Glowing Green Lactic Acid & Witch Hazel Exfoliating Toner Pads and I'm so glad she sent me a box to try. Each individually-wrapped pre-soaked pad contains mild lactic acid, an AHA that is great for sensitive skin and those with Rosacea, and witch hazel so it's soothing, but also helps clear and refine pores and leave skin with this dewy smooth glow. I had a few chin blemishes and these pads instantly calmed them and made them disappear quickly. Plus, it didn't trigger any Rosacea flare ups. These are great heading into the fall season to revive post-summer skin.

I went with some lighter highlights for summer and this color-treated sulfate-free shampoo, conditioner and treatment from MATRIX has been a lifesaver. It kept the color bright, never brassy and in great shape, all things that are tricky for blondes in the summertime. Plus, none of the products weighed my hair down, which can be an issue for my fine hair.

Ever since my dermatologist told me to up my retinol routine, I have been making sure to find an over-the-counter option that works well without any irritation. This one from Kiehl's has been a game-changer in my nighttime routine and can be used on anyone who wants to fight the signs of aging while also helping to control breakouts. I use one generous pump around the entire face at night and the micro-dosing formula does it's action while I sleep. Not only does this product contain retinol, but it also has peptides for skin strength and ceramides to protect the skin barrier. It helps to firm and improve skin texture over time without any irritation.
